Sony celebrates PlayStation anniversary with a new photography book that costs £95 (or £245 if you’re fancy)

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the Sony PlayStation’s release in the UK, and to celebrate Sony is releasing a fancy photography book of never before seen prototypes and concepts.

The catch? It’ll cost you £95.

PlayStation: The First 30 Years is a “400 page visual journey through PlayStation history”, reads the PlayStation Blog, which will provide a glimpse into the evolution of the PlayStation brand through each generation from PS1 to PS5.

The hardback book will be available worldwide from spring 2026 and can be pre-ordered from the Read-Only Memory online bookstore. The standard edition will cost £95, while a deluxe edition including a presentation box and exclusive prints costs £245 – and there are only 1,994 of them.

Read-Only Memory is known for its gaming books, with similar books on other console makers and game series.

Sony is also collaborating with Reebok for some PlayStation 30th anniversary sneakers. There are three designs for the console’s original launch regions, based on the InstaPump Fury 94 for Japan, Pump Omni Zone II for the U.S. and the Workout Plus, for the UK.

These will be available in October, though a price is yet to be confirmed.

The new products are alongside Sony’s existing 30th Anniversary Collection of PS5 consoles and accessories.

Last year, Eurogamer celebrated the PlayStation’s 30th anniversary with a whole load of new features on Sony’s debut, groundbreaking console.
