Qualcomm will likely be tweaking the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2’s specifications before it officially announces its flagship SoC on September 23, though it should be noted that the initial samples had their performance cores tested at more than 5.00GHz. However, it appears that the final version has been watered down, but thankfully, a tipster has mentioned that the CPU and GPU clock speeds are still faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite, to the point that the new AnTuTu results are almost touching 50 percent higher than the speediest device in the benchmark’s leaderboards.
Performance cores of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 are rumored to run at 4.60GHz for the regular version, a small increase over the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s 4.32GHz
Like its immediate predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 will share the same ‘2 + 6’ cluster as the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but since Qualcomm has transitioned to TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process, also known as ‘N3P,’ it has more flexibility to hit higher frequencies. On Weibo, Digital Chat Station mentions that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2’s performance cores operate at 4.60GHz, with the new Adreno 840 GPU hitting 1.20GHz, making it a slight increase over the Adreno 830’s 1.10GHz frequency.
We are confident that Qualcomm will introduce a ‘Leading Edition’ of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 late next year that can hit even higher CPU and GPU clock speeds, resulting in increased single-core and multi-core scores. In fact, 2025 might be the year that Qualcomm’s flagship SoC will be crowned the fastest smartphone silicon because Apple is rumored to focus on power efficiency for the A19 and A19 Pro that are scheduled to launch later this year.

The rumor also mentions some updated AnTuTu scores, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 now hitting 4 million. Previously, the same tipster stated that the SoC had obtained a score of 3.8 million, but now, the latest result is 49.68 percent faster than the fastest smartphone on AnTuTu’s leaderboards, which is the iQOO 13, as it ranked first with 2,671,305 points.
With these specifications, we will not be surprised to learn that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 can effortlessly cross 10,000 points in Geekbench 6’s multi-core score, but we will have to wait for those scores to arrive in a future leak, at least a few weeks before Qualcomm officially unveils the chipset.
