(TNND) — Our parent company, Sinclair, announced it will resume airing “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on its ABC affiliates starting this evening, following a temporary preemption.
The decision comes after receiving feedback from viewers, advertisers, and community leaders, as well as witnessing recent acts of violence, including a shooting at an ABC affiliate in Sacramento. Sinclair emphasized its commitment to providing programming that serves community interests while honoring national network obligations.
In discussions with ABC, Sinclair proposed measures to enhance accountability and community dialogue, such as appointing a network-wide independent ombudsman.
Although ABC and Disney have not adopted these measures, Sinclair respects their decision-making rights under network affiliate agreements. The company stated that its decision to preempt the program was made independently of any government influence, underscoring the importance of free speech and broadcasters’ rights to determine local content.
Sinclair remains dedicated to serving communities with programming that reflects their priorities and promotes constructive dialogue, and looks forward to collaborating with ABC to deliver content that meets diverse community needs.
