If the first drama wasn’t enough, Robert Griffin III once again went to the well with yet another controversial social media post about Angel Reese. Only this time RGIII drew the ire of Shaquille O’Neal.
It wasn’t that long ago that a social media post from RGIII about Angel Reese “hating” Caitlin Clark sparked a week long feud with ESPN’s Ryan Clark that spiraled completely out of control and ended with the two of them fighting over interracial marriage somehow.
While one would hope lessons might have been learned from the debacle, but that appears to not be the case where Griffin is concerned. He denounced a racist image of Reese on social media. But he not only shared the image, he also simultaneously called out Reese and claimed that a video she shared led to abuse and threats against him and his family.
“I have been quiet on the Angel Reese front because she shared a video that aided in my wife, kids, family and friends receiving death threats, threats of physical harm to my family and friends and threats of sexual violence to my children on social media and beyond. That will never be okay with me. I never attacked her or her family when I stated and backed up with clear basketball evidence that Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark. It’s sports. Everybody won’t like each other. People in Angel’s inner circle called me and told me I was right and Angel Reese has grown to hate Caitlin Clark because of the media always asking her about Caitlin and being constantly compared to her,” Griffin said.
None of what RGIII did in the post sat well with others, drawing another response from Clark even though it didn’t spawn another full chapter in their feud. Reese also said that RGIII was lying about the contacts with her inner circle.
It also drew a response from Shaquille O’Neal in an appearance on the Off the Record podcast with Bailey Jackson and Lachelle Smith, who did not mince words in directly addressing RGIII for sharing the image and trying to attach himself to Angel Reese.

“Speaking of man, RGIII tweet another monkey post about my girl Angel Reese and I’m going to punch you in your f—ing face,” O’Neal said.
And Shaq was just getting started.
“It’s a shame that all the stuff you did in your life, you’re gonna be remembered for your podcast. You’re gonna be remembered for your podcast. That should tell you you’re not that f—ing great. I don’t want to be remembered for Shaq’s Big Podcast. I do not. Like, leave those girls alone. You already spoke on it. Let it go. So what? He hates her. So f—ing what. I hate you now for messing with her. Now what? Say something about me” he added.
Amidst all the self-created social media controversies after being laid off from ESPN last year, Griffin will actually work calling college football games this year for Fox Sports. But he’s clearly shown that his top priority is his takes and being a social media influencer, although that influence doesn’t seem to be winning him any friends.
