Scenes from record-setting Zach Bryan, John Mayer concert at Michigan Stadium

ANN ARBOR – The nation’s largest stadium hosted the biggest single concert in U.S. history Saturday night.

The sold-out show packed about 112,000 fans inside Michigan Stadium for headliner Zach Bryan and openers John Mayer and Ryan Bingham and the Texas Gentlemen and Joshua Slone.

Public tickets for the concert sold out over the course of just two hours back in February. The 112,000 ticket sales set Saturday’s concert up to be the most-attended non-festival concert in North American history.

The event, more than two decades in the making, was the first major concert at the Big House. The only other music-centric event hosted there was a free show for high schoolers hosted by Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler’s wife Millie Schembechler in 1987.

Crews worked throughout the week to set up a 360-degree stage and add nearly 5,000 seats the stadium’s turf. Seating was arranged to beat the previous one-concert attendance record of 110,905, set by George Strait in June 2024 at a similar concert on Texas A&M’s Kyle Field.

Mayer started with “Belief,” “Last Train Home” and “Who Says,” performing a total of ten songs from 2006’s Continuum onwards. He also played crowd favorites “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” and “Gravity.”

Bryan took the stage shortly after, opening with “Overtime,” “Open the Gate” and “Godspeed.” His set included a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil” performed with Mayer and ended with an encore performance of “Revival,” culminating in a 90-second firework display over the stadium.
