Samsung might have just launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 to fairly positive reviews, but that doesn’t mean the company is staying quiet ahead of the holiday shopping season. In addition to a whole slate of tablets and the brand’s first-ever tri-fold smartphone, we’re also expecting something a little less innovative — and a whole lot cheaper — in the Galaxy S25 FE.
The folks at WinFuture spotted early renders and a handful of specs on the website of British chain Tesco, and so far, it’s shaping up to be a pretty appealing mid-range smartphone. Unlike in previous years, where the FE-series was held back primarily by its more premium mainline Plus siblings, the S25 FE in particular feels like a pretty good compromise compared to the S25+, and that could help explain the current rumors surrounding Samsung’s planned S26 lineup.
Before I get ahead of myself though, here’s what we know. These new renders showcase a fairly typical Samsung smartphone: big display, rounded corners, triple lens layout on the back. It’s sporting some pretty big changes over the Galaxy S24 FE, though, including noticeably slimmer bezels around that 6.7-inch 1080p display that appear far more premium than in years past. The “Jet Black” model appears in these images, but Samsung apparently plans to also sell the device in “Icy Blue.” We’ve also seen the phone in navy and white options.
A more premium design doesn’t mean every spec’s been upgraded, though — in fact, Samsung is apparently keeping the processor unchanged for this generation. Like the S24 FE before it, the Galaxy S25 FE will reportedly use the Exynos 2400e, a variant of the Exynos 2400 with a slightly slower clock speed. Performance wasn’t a massive issue with the S24 FE last year, and similarly, I doubt this older chipset will make much of a difference in day-to-day use. It’ll be paired with either 128GB or 256GB of storage and, unfortunately, just 8GB of RAM.
The camera lineup will apparently feature a 50MP main sensor paired with a 12MP ultra-wide shooter and an 8MP 3x telephoto — once again, unchanged from last year — but there could be some pretty big improvements to the battery department. Despite previous rumors indicating a smaller battery in exchange for a slimmer chassis, the S25 FE apparently includes a larger 4,900mAh cell, in addition to the already-leaked 45W fast-charging. It seems like the brand is seemingly ready to push towards larger batteries and faster charging speeds nearly a decade after the Note 7 debacle, and frankly, I think it’s a well-overdue move.
While these leaked specs contain some obvious downgrades compared to the Galaxy S25+, at the right price, I think this could make for a pretty solid replacement should Samsung ditch the Plus series next year. Rumors point to an Edge follow-up taking up the middle spot in the S26 series, flanked by the Galaxy S26 Ultra on the high-end and something called the “Galaxy S26 Pro” on the other. While the FE certainly comes with a slight downgrade on specs, it certainly seems like less of a sacrifice than previously.
Unfortunately, the price might not be right. WinFuture suggests a starting price of €679, which would push the Galaxy S26 FE up near the $800 mark in the US. While something closer to $700 seems more likely here, tariffs and other economic uncertainty make it difficult to predict any sort of sense when it comes to pricing. Thankfully, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to find out some official details — expect an announcement from Samsung in early fall.
