Samsung announced last week that it would expand the availability of the One UI 8.0 beta update to more devices. Today, it released the Android 16-based update for the Galaxy S24 series, allowing people with compatible devices in select countries to beta-test it and help Samsung fix bugs and improve performance.
Galaxy S24 gets One UI 8.0 beta update with new features
The One UI 8.0 beta update is now available for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Android 16-based beta software is currently available in South Korea and the UK, and it could be released in India and the USA soon. It is a 3.2GB update and comes with firmware version S92xBXXU9ZYH3 in the UK and S92xNKSU9ZYH3 in South Korea.
If you live in the countries mentioned above, have one of the Galaxy S24 series devices mentioned above, and want to beta-test One UI 8.0, you can enrol your device by installing the Samsung Members app, logging into it using your Samsung Account (the one being used in the device), and tapping the One UI 8 Beta Program banner on the app’s home screen.
Once the registration process is complete, you can install the One UI 8.0 beta update by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install. After the beta update is downloaded, the tap the Install now button. The device will restart after a few minutes, and you can start using One UI 8.0 on your phone.
What new features does One UI 8.0 bring?
It brings several new and improved features, a slightly updated UI in certain parts, and improved underlying codebase for things like Samsung DeX and Secure Folder. Samsung has improved the design of Quick Share, clearly differentiating between sending and receiving aspects of it.
Samsung has greatly improved the management of alarms, calendar entries, and reminders. Secure Folder is now more secure, as it is now based on Android’s native Private Space feature. Samsung DeX is now more reliable, as it is now based on Android 16’s native Desktop Mode feature.
