Although Samsung’s One UI 8 rollout wasn’t meant to kick off in earnest until October, the company is pushing ahead of schedule with a handful of last-gen Galaxy devices.
For the most part, none of the devices receiving One UI 8 first are particularly surprising, as Samsung usually focuses on its more recent flagships before eventually working beyond that list and into the ever-expanding A-series. This first wave of updates is mostly following that rule, with one big exception. As spotted by Tarun Vats on Twitter and by SamMobile, several devices are getting their Android 16 update, including:
- Galaxy S24
- Galaxy S24+
- Galaxy S24 Ultra
- Galaxy S24 FE
- Galaxy Z Fold 6
- Galaxy Z Flip 6
- Galaxy A56
All of these are beginning to rollout in Korea, with a global expansion likely in the coming days. While most of these were fully expected to be among the first devices to receive One UI 8, it’s a little surprising to see the A56 crack the list this early.
All of those phones were included on Samsung’s list of devices intended to receive One UI 8 in October, firmly placing Samsung ahead of schedule once again after a fairly rocky rollout of One UI 7 earlier this year. There are plenty of products left on that list to go, including more A-series phones, the company’s last few generations of tablets, and both the S23 and S22 series. Even more devices are scheduled to receive their updates in November.
Despite One UI 8 just starting to arrive on older hardware, Samsung is also in the earliest stages of testing One UI 8.5, which we expect to arrive alongside the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026. Thanks to some recent images of an internal build, we know next year’s update includes some iOS-inspired redesigns — at least, in the settings menu. We’ll have to keep waiting for further leaks to know more.
