While Samsung has an event scheduled for later this week to unveil the Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy Tab S11 series, it might not be the only announcement planned for September after all.
A pair of reports out today suggest Samsung is targeting as early as the end of this month to hold an official Unpacked event for both its upcoming tri-fold — rumored to be called the Galaxy Z TriFold — and its long-awaited Project Moohan headset that doubles as a launching ground for Android XR. Our first teaser comes from leaker Ice Universe, who suggested the company has plans for a September 29th event held in South Korea. In addition to the foldable and the headset, Samsung could also launch a pair of “AI glasses” called Galaxy Glasses, presumable powered by, among other things, Galaxy AI.
Echoing Ice Universe is a new report out in ET News, suggesting a reveal “as early as next month” ahead of a November launch. Samsung events can occasionally slip backwards in time — see the S25 Edge announcement earlier this year — so the possibility of either a late September or early October unveiling does make sense. After all, the company only promised to ship its upcoming slate of gadgets before the end of the year, without giving much in the way of specifics.
That said, it doesn’t appear Samsung expects its tri-foldable smartphone to sell particularly well — at least in its first iteration. 50,000 units are allegedly being prepped for the upcoming launch, specifically to gauge consumer interest before presumably delivering a broader launch in the generations to come. It’s a similar approach to what Samsung took with the original Galaxy Fold, and considering we know the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is broadly doing well after a couple of years of stagnant foldable sales, clearly it’s a strategy that can pay off in the long run.
The Galaxy Z TriFold has also been rumored to be region-locked to South Korea and China, the latter of which will see Huawei launch its second-gen tri-fold this month. Considering the fall release window and the relatively paltry amount of units prepped — not to mention the rumors of a Korea-based announcement — it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Samsung stick to the precedent it set with the Galaxy Z Fold SE last year.
