Samsung makes good on promise to bring Microsoft Copilot to TVs

Microsoft Copilot has a new home in Samsung’s TVs and monitors after the company announced a partnership earlier in the year.

Samsung announced the official rollout of Microsoft Copilot on its 2025 TVs and smart monitors as a part of the Samsung Vision AI experience. Samsung says that Copilot will be accessible through voice commands or the remote. The AI assistant will be positioned as a tool to find content on Samsung’s TVs that’s “tailored” towards the user.

The company also noted that it will leverage conversational AI in the lifestyle hub, which expands beyond entertainment and into wellness, food, and more. Microsoft’s AI model is generally seen as a capable option, and it will be interesting to see how well it incorporates into Samsung’s displays.

The predictable part of Samsung’s move to Copilot on TVs was in the way Google Assistant has been phased out. The digital assistant has been pushed into the background over the last year as Google itself continues to push towards utilizing Google Gemini instead. The long-standing digital assistant is even leaving devices that were built around it, such as the company’s Nest displays.

Samsung announced this move to Microsoft’s AI in early 2025. This comes as LG is also in the process of bringing Microsofts conversational AI to TVs.

It would make sense that Gemini doesn’t have a future on Samsung’s Tizen displays, as it would be a fish out of water on a device running anything other than Google TV. Copilot, on the other hand, likely wouldn’t. Samsung is committed to building a TV OS that offers its own proprietary features, and it certainly doesn’t seem to be hurting them.

Samsung notes availability will vary by region, and no specific rollout dates are listed. Let us know if you get access to Copilot on your Samsung TV in the comments.
