Samsung fans, get ready: One UI 8 month has officially kicked off

At long last, September is here, and it’s set to be an exciting month for Samsung fans. Samsung will officially start rolling out the stable One UI 8 update in the coming weeks, bringing new features (and Android 16) to Galaxy devices.

The Galaxy S25 series will be first in line to get the stable One UI 8 update. Samsung may also expand the rollout this month to other flagships, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy S24 lineup.

Why One UI 8 is unique

One UI 8 stands out for a couple of reasons. First, it marks the fastest release of a major Android and One UI update in the same year as the previous version. While One UI 7 took longer to arrive, Samsung has also worked closely with Google this time to ensure Android 16 and One UI 8 are ready much earlier than usual.

Second, this release flips Samsung’s usual pattern. For the first time, the company is pushing a new version of One UI to older devices after already launching new phones, including its latest foldable flagships, running the same software. And by the time the rollout begins, Samsung will have announced a couple of more devices—the Galaxy S25 FE and the Galaxy Tab S11 lineup—that come preloaded with One UI 8.

When will the rollout begin?

It’s still unclear exactly when in September the rollout will kick off, but it’s safe to say One UI 8 month is officially underway. If you own an eligible device, now is a great time to get ready.
