It has been one month since the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 devices, and Samsung has shared some of the interesting software features powered by One UI 8. These two phones are the first to feature the One UI 8 (Android 16) operating system out of the box, which is only made possible through a close cooperation between Google and Samsung.
To tell us about new software capabilities, Samsung chose none other than its top mobile experience executives, Mihyun Jeong and Joonhwan Kim, to reveal what is so special about the One UI 8.
These new phones come with multimodal capabilities, which made AI features integration a lot better. The new Flip 7 comes with a large cover screen that lets you use AI features without opening the phone first. You can launch Gemini with the side button, and the FlexWindow feature has optimized UI for improved AI interactions from the cover.
The FlexWindow now lets you maximize the Now Bar experience for real-time access to sports scores, news, app updates, and other key information on the cover screen.
Multi-tasking on Fold 7
This year, Samsung has trimmed the Galaxy Z Fold 7‘s size and weight but increased the overall display dimensions. One UI 8 gives you the freedom to unlock the full potential of the main display with multitasking.
You can display AI-generated results in split-view or floating view; the software allows you to resize or move these elements to get a customized experience.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a perfect device for entertainment and media editing. You can view a media file in full screen or place two files for side-by-side comparison for more precise image editing.

Samsung DeX
This virtual desktop inside the software has some new upgrades and addresses some of the major issues reported by users while improving the user interface for maximum productivity.

Others
Some other new additions include a more seamless design for Quick Share, Audio Eraser, and new pet profiles in the Portrait Studio in Photo Assist. The new One UI also brings some minor tweaks that target better visibility across the UI.
Samsung has confirmed that One UI 8 features will rollout for the Galaxy S25 series starting in November and will expand to other devices onwards.
