Fans love to boo Sammy Guevara. Now, they have their chance to it again.
The Spanish God had been a babyface when tagging with Dustin Rhodes in ROH. With Dustin out of action due to a double knee replacement, Sammy went back to his roots to turn heel at ROH Death Before Dishonor (Aug. 29, 2025), and he won the tag titles in the process.
The story heading into the PPV was Sammy as one-half of the tag team champions and the Von Erichs as two-thirds of the six-man champions. Without Dustin, both needed replacement partners. The Von Erichs wanted to keep the Sons of Texas vibes rolling hot, so they asked Sammy to be their third. As for Sammy’s partner, he teased breaking down the walls. (Hi, Chris Jericho.)
Commentary implied that Sammy would be choosing one of the Von Erichs. More on that in a bit.
First, the ROH World Six-Man Championship bout. The Sons of Texas battled Shane Taylor Promotions. Unfortunately for the Von Erichs, Sammy ate the pin in defeat. STP won the gold.
Later in the show, Sammy and his partner competed against the Outrunners for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. The big reveal was Rush.
Commentary was confused why Sammy didn’t pick Ross or Marshall. The Spanish God meshed well with his new partner, and they won the gold. As the Outrunners surged, Sammy shoved Truth Magnum off the turnbuckles. Rush suplexed Turbo Floyd into the corner for the Bull’s Horns dropkick. Tag to Sammy for a sweet dive onto Turbo for the win.
Sammy didn’t go full-blown heel until after the match. The Von Erichs confronted their former ally. Sammy made peace with a hug, then he blindsided them with a superkick. LFI stomped Ross and Marshall. Rush spoke into the camera about Sammy now part of the LFI family.
This was a pretty good surprise. I don’t think anyone had Rush on the bingo card to be Sammy’s mystery partner. The heel turn by Sammy will satisfy his haters, of which there are many. Hopefully, it sets up for a hot payback moment by the Von Erichs.
