Sagat just became available for players of Street Fighter 6, and with him came a number of changes to the roster so that his Tiger Shots would behave properly against some of the cast members.
In Street Fighter 6, Sagat has the ability to charge up his Heavy Punch Tiger Uppercut by holding the Heavy button as he executes it, and this can lead to near full-screen whiff punish opportunities for the character.
Sagat’s charged Heavy Punch Tiger Uppercut does more damage and has more range, and when cancelled into his Level 3, if it lands as a punish counter it takes off about about 57% (5760) of the opponent’s health bar.
However, the charged Heavy Punch Tiger Uppercut has 35 frames of startup, where the normal version is 18 frames, which means that you really need to predict what an opponent is going to do, or take advantage of a move with a lot of recovery to land this.
Still, it’s pretty awesome that Sagat has THIS much range on this move, and we’re sure to see a number of uses for this attack with time.
Check out an example here of Sagat performing a near full-screen whiff punish on Juri’s Standing Heavy Punch.
Perfect time to drop this Trash character. @BigNastyKail @ChicoFGC_ @hereticmagicman
Someone has to hate her to give her that hurtbox.
You ok with that @tinibari 🤔? pic.twitter.com/5RKeIkMepk— Lord Jago (@Margqulius) August 5, 2025
We talked previously about how Sagat would be a very powerful character in this with a lot of range. This analysis of his abilities coming into Street Fighter 6 has definitely come true.
