MIAMI — The Icon Of The Seas cruise ship was on its way back to PortMiami on Friday night after one crew member died and another was injured.
According to CruiseMapper, the Royal Caribbean International-operated cruise ship was set to return at PortMiami at 6 a.m. on Saturday.
The voyage started on July 19 and included stops at St. Marteen and the U.S. Virgin Islands, before there was a report of a dispute between two crew members.
Shortly before 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, a 35-year-old man stabbed a 28-year-old woman, fled, and jumped from the ship into the water off San Salvador Island in the Bahamas, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
Crew members recovered the South African man’s body from the water and pronounced him dead while the woman, also from South Africa, survived and was in stable condition, according to the RBPF.
