Could we be seeing the start of a new Dancing With the Stars love connection? Season 32 winner Xochitl Gomez was back in the ballroom for the Tuesday, November 11, episode, during which she was partnered with Robert Irwin for a Relay Dance that helped him earn extra points.
While giving commentary on the routine, judge Derek Hough noted that Gomez and Irwin had “chemistry,” sparking widespread fan reaction about how they should start dating.
“Me screaming “KISS” after robert and xochitl won the relay,” one person wrote on X. Someone else said, “ROBERT AND XOCHITL?!?!! I KNOW CHEMISTRY WHEN I SEE IT!!!” and another person wrote, “If i cant have robert irwin, the only acceptable person who can have him is xochitl.” Another fan commented, “ROBERT AND XOCHITL WERE SO F**KING CUTE even derek called out their chemistry like period.”
Earlier this season, Irwin was romantically linked to Hailey Bills, a member of the dance troupe, but they have not commented on the dating rumors.
The Dance Relay brought back six former Mirrorball champions to perform with six of the seven remaining Season 34 contestants (Whitney Leavitt was immune after topping last week’s leaderboard). Irwin and Gomez were up against Alix Earle and Joey Graziadei in a jive relay. The judges had a tough time deciding who the winner was, but ultimately selected Irwin and Gomez.
That meant that Irwin got to add two points to his already-perfect score, and he ended up tying for the top of the leaderboard with Dylan Efron and Leavitt. Earlier in the night, he performed a foxtrot dedicated to his late father, Steve Irwin, and his sister, Bindi Irwin (also a former DWTS winner), made a surprise appearance.
The other former winners to return to the dance floor were Kaitlyn Bristowe (with Andy Richter), Rumer Willis (with Efron), Rashad Jennings (with Elaine Hendrix), and Apolo Anton Ohno (with Jordan Chiles). Richter and Slater were the team eliminated at the end of the night.
