Retroid Pocket 6 and Pocket G2 Officially Unveiled

Leave it to Retroid to drop some major news right after we publish RH Weekly, so here we are. Not one, but two new handhelds have been unveiled, as the Retroid Pocket G2 and Retroid Pocket 6 are official.

The Pocket G2 is basically a rebranded Retroid Pocket 5, swapping out the Snapdragon 865 in favor of the G2 Gen 2 that was announced back at GDC 2025. It’s paired with 8GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. As little surprise, the Pocket G2 features a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, to go along with a 5,000mAh battery, and comes in five different colors.

As for pricing and availability, the Retroid Pocket G2 retails for $219, which probably explains the recent RP5 price drop. However, if you order the Pocket G2 within the first two weeks, it’s $20 cheaper, coming in at $199. Shipping for the GC, Gray, and Black models is set to commence on October 29, with the Teal and Yellow to begin shipping on November 5.

Then there’s the “flagship” as the Retroid Pocket 6 was also unveiled, again, sporting a rather familiar design. Nevertheless, the RP6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, making it the most powerful handheld that Retroid has released to date. This is paired with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of expandable storage.

All of this is housed behind a 5.5-inch AMOLED display, complete with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Retroid is packing a 6,000mAh battery into here, which should mean that we’ll have all-day battery life, and then some. Surprisingly, while the Pocket G2 is rocking Android 15, the Pocket 6 is only being released with Android 13.

Retroid stopped short of sharing when the Pocket 6 would be made available, but we do know that pre-order pricing starts at $209 for the 8GB/128GB model and $259 for the 12GB/256GB version. Once it’s officially released, the price will bump up to $229 or $279, respectively.
