Remedy has pushed a new patch live for the PS5 version of Control that allows it to take advantage of the PS5 Pro and its feature set, as well as offering pre-order suits for everyone, and the ability to unlock the frame rate.
The update, for the PS5 version specifically, is available to download now, updating the game to version number 1.30. If you picked the game up after launch and didn’t grab any of the pre-order bonuses, you now have free access to the gear:
• Astral Dive Suit (formerly a pre-order exclusive)
• Tactical Response Gear (formerly a pre-order exclusive)
• Urban Response Gear
No matter if you’re playing on a base PS5 or a PS5 Pro, the settings menu now has a new option: unlock frame rate. The limits to the frame rate in both Quality and Performance Mode have been removed, and there is VRR and 120Hz support for those with compatible TVs. There’s also HDR support and “improved” Temporal Anti-Aliasing quality.
The patch goes one step further for PS5 Pro owners, who can now turn on PSSR support. Remedy states: “Using PSSR results in smoother edges, improved hair, and vegetation visual quality. Using PSSR can slightly impact performance, so if you would rather have the original ‘look’ of Control, you can disable PSSR in the settings.”
Further, the Performance Mode on PS5 Pro will have enhanced Screen Space Reflections, while the texture and shadow resolution filtering have been updated.
