Thursday has been an eventful day for the American League East, but the Red Sox haven’t been as active as their rival New York Yankees, who have acquired a handful of new players this week.

The Yankees snagged David Bednar from from the Pittsburgh Pirates and Jake Bird from the Colorado Rockies on Thursday, bolstering their bullpen in a big way.

The Red Sox were reportedly in hot pursuit of Arizona Diamondbacks’ Merrill Kelly, but Kelly ultimately landed with the Texas Rangers, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
