Raw airs tonight (Sept. 15) with a live show from MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. This is the final episode of Raw during the three week build to Wrestlepalooza, which takes place on Saturday (Sept. 20). Tonight’s episode of Raw has a special start time of 7 pm ET on Netflix.
AJ Lee’s return to WWE is about to go very wrong
When Raw GM Adam Pearce announced the card for Raw, he asked a straightforward question about tonight’s face-to-face confrontation that CM Punk & AJ Lee will have with Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins : “What could possibly go wrong?“
It hasn’t even been two full weeks, but nothing has gone wrong so far with AJ’s return to WWE. She’s given Becky a shiner with her tiny fists of fury, and also got the heels to agree to a tag team match at Wrestlepalooza. The fans love AJ and Punk, and they have all the momentum on their side.
That’s all well and good, but I think their luck will abruptly change tonight.
Let’s face it, AJ and Punk are probably winning at Wrestlepalooza. It’s AJ’s return match, and there are no titles on the line. If that’s the case, then tonight’s Raw is the only chance Seth and Becky have to finally get one over on the babyfaces.
One obvious problem with this face-to-face confrontation is that Seth has been ducking Punk for weeks and has no interest in sharing the same ring with him. But Rollins still has Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman as his allies. It’s probably time to call some of them in to give Seth and Becky the numbers advantage and to put CM and/or AJ in a vulnerable position tonight. In other words, thing are likely to go very wrong for the babyfaces when they step foot into the ring tonight with these two cowards.
What kind of scheme do Rollins and Lynch have planned for tonight’s face-to-face confrontation with Punk and Lee? Tune into Raw to find out.
John Cena returns to Raw tonight. What message will John have for Brock Lesnar after The Beast destroyed his younger brother Ron on SmackDown? Is Cena ready to take a trip to Suplex City on Saturday night?
Lyra Valkyria vs. Roxanne Perez is booked on tonight’s show. The Judgment Day is looking to sweep the floor with Lyra after Raquel Rodriguez already beat her last week. Meanwhile, Bayley seems very conflicted but says she knows how to make things right with Lyra. Will we find out exactly what that means tonight?
Dragon Lee vs. El Grande Americano is also scheduled for Raw. There were multiple Americanos last week when AJ Styles fought El Grande on Raw, but Dragon showed up to even the odds and help Styles win. Will anyone be around to have Dragon’s back tonight if the extra Americanos show up looking for revenge?
Finally, tonight’s card also includes Penta vs. Kofi Kingston. When will the New Day and Grayson Waller realize that they should just leave Penta alone if they want to stop getting their heads smashed in with his Mexican destroyer?
Other stuff to keep an eye on
– Stephanie Vaquer missed last week’s contract signing with IYO SKY for their women’s world championship match at Wrestlepalooza, but she says she is good to go for tonight. Will they do the contract signing tonight, or has GM Adam Pearce already moved on to another plan to hype up their title match on Saturday?
– It looks like we could be getting a tag team match soon pitting Rhea Ripley & Nikki Bella against the Kabuki Warriors. What will it take to get Kairi Sane fully on board with Asuka’s more demanding attitude of late?
– The Usos are reunited for a tag team match against Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker at Wrestlepalooza. However, it’s become clear that Jey Uso is now channeling his inner Tribal Chief; he’s only focused on doing what’s best for himself and his family, and doesn’t give a shit about doing what’s right by others like LA Knight. Will Jey’s issue with the megastar give The Vision an opening to lay out (and Tsunami splash) all the babyfaces tonight ahead of Wrestlepalooza?
– Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio will be more obnoxious than ever now that he’s also the AAA Mega Champion, thanks to an assist from El Grande Americano. Finn Balor is suspicious of Americano and warned Dirty Dom that nobody gives out favors for free in WWE. When will El Grande come to collect on this debt?
– Speaking of The Judgment Day, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh have not defended the world tag team championship since late July. Does it even matter at this point?
– AJ Styles cut a worked shoot promo during a commercial break last week about how it’s like “someone orchestrated a way for me not to win anymore.” Will AJ go in harder on someone in WWE having it out for him during another commercial break tonight?
– Rusev says the plan for his WWE comeback is simple: Rusev returns, Rusev crushes Sheamus, Rusev wins championship. Which title is Rusev gunning for after also crushing Penta last week?
– Saudimania is running wild in WWE following last week’s HUGE announcement about WrestleMania 43. Will the crowd in Springfield loudly boo or chant “You sold out!” when WWE floods them with gross propaganda praising the government of Saudi Arabia?
– Where the f*** is Omos?
What will you be looking for on Raw?
