Prince William Makes Rare Comment About Brother Prince Harry Amid Rift

Prince William is reflecting on his and Prince Harry’s royal upbringing.

The Prince of Wales made a rare mention of his younger brother—from whom he is currently estranged—while sharing his thoughts on his son Prince George’s eventual role as king.

“There are lots of things to think about with that,” William told Eugene Levy during the Oct. 3 episode of The Reluctant Traveler, per People. “But obviously, I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better.”

And the 43-year-old—who shares George, 12, as well as Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, with wife Kate Middleton—noted that looking to the future means learning from history.

“That is caveated with, I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past, that Harry and I had to grow up in,” he continued, “and I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation.”

William—who is heir apparent to the British throne—has seemingly had minimal contact with Harry, 41, since Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior working royals in 2020. The couple settled in California with their 6-year-old son Prince Archie shortly thereafter, and welcomed daughter Princess Lilibet, now 4, in 2021.

The brothers have not been photographed side-by-side for more than three years, with their grandmother Queen Elizabeth II‘s funeral in September 2022 marking their last public interaction.
