- Despite having what was thought to be an ironclad lease, Prince Andrew is reportedly considering moving out of his 30-bedroom mansion, Royal Lodge, imminently, as is Sarah Ferguson, his ex-wife.
- In a musical chairs of royal homes, Andrew is set to move into Frogmore Cottage, formerly the U.K. home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
- Meanwhile, Ferguson is reportedly headed to Adelaide Cottage, the home of Prince William and Kate Middleton for the past three years.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are reportedly planning on moving out of their shared home, Royal Lodge, imminently—and their respective destinations may surprise some.
Though they divorced in 1996, the former Duke and Duchess of York have cohabitated together in the 30-room mansion for years. Andrew signed a lease for the property on the Windsor estate in 2003, with the lease set to last until 2078, yet pressure surrounding his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein not only caused Andrew to relinquish his Duke of York title on October 17 but, reportedly, also his home.

According to The Telegraph, Andrew is potentially set to move to Frogmore Cottage—the former home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle—while Ferguson could be headed to Adelaide Cottage, the current home of Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three kids. The Wales family of five is set to move from the four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage into the eight-bedroom Forest Lodge, also on the Windsor estate, by November 5.

Per The Telegraph, a source said that “no one is really sure how it’s going to go down at the palace yet,” adding that Andrew “is willing to leave, but these are his demands. He is realistic and knows the writing is on the wall and that his time at Royal Lodge is up.”
“If he must go then he has asked for Frogmore Cottage,” the insider continued. “Incredibly, Sarah has said she wants Adelaide Cottage.”
Andrew’s lease was thought to be “cast iron,” but that may not be so anymore. A friend of Andrew and Ferguson said that the plan the former couple have put forward will serve as “a fresh start for both.”

“Frogmore Cottage is too small for both and Adelaide Cottage is around the corner, so they will see each other whenever they want,” the source said. “Both [properties] have space for their daughters [Princess] Eugenie and [Princess] Beatrice and their families to visit.”

This isn’t the first time Frogmore Cottage has been offered to Andrew, though this time it seems to be something of interest to him. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex fully vacated their former U.K. home in 2023 after moving to the U.S. and stepping back from working royal life in 2020. After originally moving to Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, the couple moved into Frogmore in 2019 before the birth of their first child, Prince Archie. Before fully vacating in 2023, the couple would stay at Frogmore while visiting Harry’s home country, like for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Prior to Harry and Meghan moving in, the property was “pretty dilapidated,” royal biographer Ingrid Seward previously told People. Harry and Meghan covered the reportedly $3 million cost of renovations, and after the couple left for the U.S. five years ago, Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank moved into the property before the birth of their first child in 2021.

As for Adelaide Cottage, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their kids moved into the property in 2022, just before Queen Elizabeth’s death that September 8. Their three years there have been quite a rollercoaster, what with the Queen’s death and the cancer diagnoses of both the Princess of Wales and King Charles, and their move to Forest Lodge—dubbed their “forever home”—is being seen as a fresh start for the family of five, who intend to live there even after William takes the throne someday.
