Prince Andrew might not be the best person to work for, at least according to a new book about his scandalous life.
Author Andrew Lownie’s new book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall Of The House of York, exposes the Duke of York’s employment practices — and it doesn’t sound like he’s the best boss.
“Andrew was particularly horrible to staff; he doesn’t seem to see them as normal people,” Lownie said in a new U.K. documentary, Andrew and Fergie: The Duke and Duchess of Excess, via the Mirror. “He treats them as basically subordinates to be bossed around.”
“I think he’s very narcissistic and everything is about him,” claimed the author. “He’ll summon his protection officer to pick up his golf balls after he’s teed them down the fairway, he will summon maids from four floors down to open the curtains. He will drop tissues he’s used on the floor and expect people to pick that up.”

This isn’t the first time the public has heard about Andrew’s odd habits. In 2022, former Buckingham Palace staffer Charlotte Briggs told The Sun that she was in charge of arranging his stuffed animals.
“As soon as I got the job, I was told about the teddies and it was drilled into me how he wanted them,” she claimed of the toys often dressed like sailors. “I even had a day’s training. Everything had to be just right. It was so peculiar.”
She shared that some bears were arranged by an unused fireplace while others, including two hippos and a black panther, had specific places by his bed or around the room.
“It was so odd,” Briggs added. “After all, he was a grown man who had served in the Falklands. But he absolutely loved the teddies and was very clear about how he wanted them arranged.”
Ever since Prince Andrew was pushed out of his senior royal role due to his Jeffrey Epstein scandal, he’s been forced to find a way to self-finance his lavish lifestyle. His ties, along with Princess Beatrice, have been side-eyed quite a bit since he has been reportedly willing to sell access to the palace in the past.
According to the Daily Mail, Epstein often made financial deals on behalf of Prince Andrew, telling people, “He is now allowed to make money.” It was also Epstein who bailed Sarah Ferguson out of her $5.5 million debt in July 2011.
So, working for Prince Andrew might not be the best idea because there continues to be a cloud of suspicion over Royal Lodge.
