TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSED!
If your club managed to nab one last player before the deadline, congratulations to you. If not, commiserations and there’s always next year. But, don’t forget that transfers can still be completed and announced after the deadline if a deal sheet, signed by both clubs and the player, was submitted before 2 pm ET. Seemingly, there will be quite a few “late” deals announced today.
Man United offload Antony to Real Betis after last season’s loan
Manchester United have written off yet another hugely expensive mistake as they send Antony, who they signed for over $100 million in 2022, back to La Liga side Real Betis for just under $30 million (plus a 50-percent sell-on fee). After not living up to the price or expectations at Old Trafford, Antony impressed while on loan to Betis last season and the club clearly prioritized bringing him back this summer.
Rasmus Hojlund joins Napoli on loan from Man United
Rasmus Hojlund’s two tormented years at Manchester United are over, as the 22-year-old Danish striker has completed a loan move to Napoli. The deal contains and initial option ($51 million, after $7 million loan fee) which can become an obligation if certain marks are met. For his part, Hojlund still wanted to stay at Man United and fight for his place but he’s going to enjoy life back in Italy, where he earned his move to Old Trafford from Atalanta, a whole lot more.
Gundogan, Akanji leaving Man City for Galatasaray, Inter Milan
Following Manchester City’s transfer business this summer, there appears to be no place for longtime servants Ilkay Gundogan and Manuel Akanji in Pep Guardiola’s squad, thus the veteran duo appears set to leave the Etihad today. Gundogan is in the final stages of making a move to Turkish giant Galatasaray while Akanji is heading to Inter Milan on an initial loan with an option to buy ($17.5 million). That’s two of the outgoings for City, but we’re still expecting another major arrival before the window closes…
Just a few hours to go!
Tick tock, everyone! There are just over two hours to go until the window is shut. So many huge deals are yet to be confirmed but it looks like Isak will go from Newcastle to Liverpool for $170 million, Wissa will go from Brentford to Newcastle for $75 million, Harvey Elliott will head to Aston Villa from Liverpool for $50 million and Marc Guehi will head to Liverpool from Crystal Palace for $50 million. There’s also the small matter of Gigi Donnarumma to Manchester City and Randal Kolo Muani to Spurs on loan. Very juicy deadline day so far! Let’s crack on with the final few hours…
Nicolas Jackson finally heading to Bayern Munich
Okay, he got his move! Nicolas Jackson is heading to Bayern Munich from Chelsea and although it is initially a loan deal, Bayern have also agreed a reported fee of $76.2 million to buy Jackson permanently next summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. After he arrived in Munich over the weekend to complete a loan move, everything was going smoothly. But an injury to Liam Delap saw Chelsea ask Jackson to come back and things got complicated. In the end Marc Guiu has returned from his loan at Sunderland for back-up and Jackson has his wish to join Bayern, while Chelsea also got their wish to sell him on a permanent basis.

The Sky Sports transfer deadline crew reacts to Bayern Munich’s reported deal with Chelsea for the services of Nicolas Jackson.
Rounding up some other moves…
Sky Sports say that Fulham are close to signing Samuel Chukwueze from AC Milan, as he will join on loan and Fulham have the option to buy him for up to $35 million. Fulham are also close to signing Chelsea youngster Tyrique George for $30 million in a major revamp of their attacking options. Manor Solomon is on the verge of joining Crystal Palace on loan from Spurs, while Wolves have signed Tolu Arokodare from Genk for $31.7 million.
Martinez to United off, with Lammens flying in
Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens is going to sign for Man United after all, according to the BBC, as he’s landed in Manchester ahead of completing his move from Antwerp. It looked like Emiliano Martinez could be joining United in a shock deadline day move, but United have instead signed Lammens for close to $25 million and he is expected to become their number one goalkeeper. The 23-year-old had also been linked with a move to Villa and Galatasaray, and it will be intriguing to see what happens with Martinez now that a move to United seems off. Apparently he has rejected the chance to join Galatasaray, so perhaps he will stay at Villa?
Latest on Kolo Muani’s move to Spurs
Well, this is unexpected but makes perfect sense given the news that Dominic Solanke’s injury is worse than first feared. David Ornstein reports that Spurs have agreed a season-long loan deal for Randal Kolo Muani. The PSG forward appeared to be heading to Juventus but Spurs have jumped in and made the most of this opportunity. Kolo Muani has the carrot dangling in front of him of pushing to be in France’s 2026 World Cup squad and is exactly the kind of player who will flourish in Thomas Frank’s system. This makes perfect sense!
Marc Guehi to Liverpool is on!
What a signing this will be for Liverpool, as David Ornstein reports that Crystal Palace have accepted a bid of close to $50 million for Marc Guehi and he is off to have his medical. With just a year left on his contract, this seems like a very good deal for Palace and Guehi is getting his wish to move to a Premier League giant. Liverpool are also getting an England international center back who will push Ibrahima Konate all the way to partner Virgil van Dijk, and it also gives Arne Slot a clear option to play three at the back.
Reacting to Liverpool’s reported deal for Guehi
The Sky Sports crew react and discuss the breaking news of Liverpool reportedly agreeing to terms on a deal for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.
Harvey Elliott heading to Aston Villa
Okay, Villa! It looks like they will be one of the big stories of the day with Harvey Elliott set to join Villa from Liverpool. According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Elliott is heading to Villa on loan with an obligation to buy for close to $50 million. This is a great move for Elliott and Villa certainly need more creativity. He will play week in, week out and he deserves that after being a back-up for Liverpool and always impressing when called upon in recent years.
Alexander Isak set to seal $170 million move to Liverpool; Wissa heading to Newcastle
So, it’s finally happening. The saga of the summer is almost over as Alexander Isak has got his wish. According to Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein, Liverpool have agreed a deal with Newcastle worth $170 million for Alexander Isak. Newcastle have got close to what they wanted for their star striker who had no intention of playing for them again and forced through this move. Liverpool will get one of the best center forwards in Europe and he will play up top with Mohamed Salah on the right, Hugo Ekitike on the left and Florian Wirtz behind them. Wow. Can anyone stop Liverpool once Isak is on board?
As for Newcastle, well, they’ve already signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart to boost their attacking options and according to David Ornstein they are about to add Yoane Wissa from Brentford too. Per the report, Newcastle have agreed to pay $75 million for Wissa. The striker hasn’t played for Brentford this season as he pushed through the move and he’s finally got his wish.
Emiliano Martinez to Manchester United developing, with Jadon Sancho potentially heading the other way
Another big goalkeeper move to keep a close eye on is Emiliano Martinez to Manchester United. Fabrizio Romano reports that personal terms between the goalkeeper and Man United have been agreed. The Argentine international wasn’t in Aston Villa’s squad on Sunday for their home defeat to Crystal Palace and Unai Emery didn’t want to talk about him. Martinez is said to be close to a move to Manchester United, with Jadon Sancho potentially heading the opposite way in a separate deal. Martinez would be a huge upgrade in goal for United and exactly the kind of leader and character they need. Sancho would provide extra creativity for Villa, who need it, and he needs to play regularly to reignite his career.

Manchester City set to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma with Ederson leaving for Fenerbahce
This is a big move for City and Gigi Donnarumma, with David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano both reporting that PSG expect the Italian international to sign for City as their new goalkeeper. Romano reports that Donnarumma will have his Man City medical in Italy and will join up with the Premier League side after the international break. That means Ederson will leave City after a glittering career under Pep Guardiola, with the Brazilian international heading to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Tottenham Hotspur linked with Randal Kolo Muani
French international forward Randal Kolo Muani was expected to join Juventus from PSG but that move isn’t going to happen according to Fabrizio Romano. Apparently a host of clubs are now trying to rush to seal a move for Kolo Muani and a club with a big interest is Spurs who have reportedly reached out about signing Kolo Muani over the last 24 hours. The striker is clinical and loves to make runs in-behind and Spurs need more of a cutting edge in the final third as Thomas Frank continues to tweak their squad to suit his playing style.
