Grim details have emerged regarding the death of Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers last month. The incident report and the 911 call made in connection to his October 18th, 2025 passing have been obtained by TMZ. Citing them, the aforementioned publication report that the 48-year-old nü-metal star died in a fall in the bathroom.
While a cause of death has yet to be determined, the report noted that he showed signs of injury consistent with suffering a pulmonary embolism — a blockage of an artery in the lungs caused by a blood clot. CPR was administered in a sadly unsuccessful attempt to save the life of the beloved bassist
There has been much speculation regarding the passing of Rivers, with a previous report indicating he was found nonresponsive in a state of cardiac arrest. That report further noted that Rivers‘ demise was an “attended death” call. That term generally refers to an individual being accompanied by a healthcare professional due to facing a life-threatening illness with death being relatively imminent.
Rivers had previously been seen sporting a shirt with the phrase ‘fuck cancer’ on it on tour, with his bandmate DJ Lethal showcasing that photo on social media and echoing that sentiment via an added caption in the wake of Rivers‘ death.
Limp Bizkit announced Rivers‘ passing in this statement on October 18th, describing him as, “the pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.” His bandmate Fred Durst later went on to release this video, detailing the impact the co-founding Rivers had on the multi-platinum band, calling his contributions “priceless”.
