Update: It seems that the level cap update has yet to go live. Some players report that it’s been delayed until 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET.
Starting on October 15, 2025, Pokemon GO will be increasing the max level cap to 80, where it was previously 50. A lot of trainers have been looking forward to seeing what comes with the increased cap, such as the new Level-Up Research task, rewards, and other new features.
However, there seems to be some confusion around the release time for the level 80 level cap update in Pokemon GO. Unlike the game’s seasonal events, such as the ongoing Harvest Festival, the new update doesn’t seem to be dropping on October 15 at 12 am local time (for everyone).
As of the time of writing, players in New Zealand and Australia have not gotten the update on their Pokemon GO app just yet. So, we expect the update to have a simultaneous global release.
