Hisuian Lilligant, the ancient, regional form of the Flowering Pokémon, is here in the world of Pokémon Go.
Unlike its mono-Grass Unovan descendent, Hisuian Lilligant, the Spinning Pokémon is a Grass and Fighting-type. Since this is a relatively rare typing, the question is whether this is more Virizion or Breloom…
Below you’ll find Hisuian Lilligant’s counters and weaknesses to help you succeed in Pokémon Go, along with a look at shiny Hisuian Lilligant.

Hisuian Lilligant counters and weaknesses in Pokémon Go
Hisuian Lilligant is making its Pokémon Go debut in three-star raids on Saturday 12 July from 2pm to 5pm (local time). Excitingly, this also marks the release of its shiny form, and comes with increased shiny odds, so if you’re a fan, you’re going to want to know how to take it down.

The second thing to know is that it is technically possible to solo this raid boss if you have the right maxed-out Pokémon. In order to increase your odds of winning with a light party, here’s what you need to know:
- Hisuian Lilligant types – Grass and Fighting-type
- Hisuian Lilligant is double weak against – Flying-type attacks
- Hisuian Lilligant is weak against – Fairy, Fire, Ice, Poison and Psychic-type attacks
- Hisuian Lilligant is resistant to – Dark, Electric, Grass, Ground, Rock and Water-type attacks.
- Hisuian Lilligant Mega counters – Mega Rayquaza, obviously, and it isn’t even remotely close. If you don’t have the Mega Sky Noodle, your next best Mega Pokémon are Pidgeot and then Salamence. To be clear though, Six Rayquaza would be better than running either of these two.
- Hisuian Lilligant non-Mega counters –
Noodle partyRayquaza is far and away the best option here. If you don’t have half a dozen of them lying around, Shadow Staraptor, Shadow Moltres and Shadow Salamence all beat your other Mega options. Failing that, we’re looking at Incarnate Enamorus, Yveltal, Shadow Honchkrow, Staraptor, Shadow Unfezant, Galarian Articuno or Therian Tornadus (birb form). After that, it’s really just your strongest Flying-type attackers. - Number of players to beat Hisuian Lilligant – You can solo this Pokémon with the ramen bowl tactic of six Rayquaza – that double weakness really is a huge help. If you don’t have optimal counters, however, you should be fine with three Trainers total. Four or more should make for an easy raid.
- Tactics – Whenever you see a double-weakness, you know what to do! In this case, beat it over the head with your birbs until you win.

Is Hisuian Lilligant shiny in Pokémon Go?
Yes, Hisuian Lilligant is shiny in Pokémon Go. Its shiny form was released as part of its original debut during the July 2025 Hisuian Lilligant raid day. So you’ll also be pleased to know that the full shiny Petilil family is now in the game!
As you can see below, shiny Petilil is pretty naff; you can barely tell it’s shiny. Shiny Lilligant, however, ops for a paler shade of green for the body, blues for the arms and cape and pink for the flower headpiece and eyes. It’s not an awful shiny, but neither is it terribly exciting.
Regular Hisuian Lilligant seems to take inspiration from this, however, but with a stereotypically balletic pink flower and leggings under its boots – the pink is a nod to the pinks you get on certain Allium and the boots are reminiscent those worn by the Prince in The Nutcracker; you could even make an argument that the entire design was influenced by the Dryads in Don Quixote. The shiny opts for an orange here instead, calling back to regular Lilligant, which is pretty nice. The fact that shiny Hisuian Lilligant keeps its blues the same as an Unovan shiny is a nice piece of consistency in the evolution line.

Best Hisuian Lilligant moveset in Pokémon Go
Our recommendation for the best Hisuian Lilligant moveset is Magical Leaf (Fast), Solar Beam and Upper Hand (Charged). Ouch.
It’s worth noting here that Hisuian Lilligant lacks any real bulk, which naturally has implications on PVP. The long and short of it, really, is that with future move updates this Pokémon may become relevant, but it’s a bit too slow and clunky for its stats.
You won’t be wanting this as a raid attacker either, so feel free to save anything you think looks good for PVP and hope for a better move down the vine line.
Here are all the Fast and Charged moves Hisuian Lilligant can use in Pokémon Go:
Fast Moves:
- Bullet Seed (Grass)
- Magical Leaf (Grass)
Charged Moves:
- Close Combat (Fighting)
- Petal Blizzard (Grass)
- Solar Beam (Grass)
- Upper Hand (Fighting)

Everything we know about Hisuian Lilligant
Petilil, the Bulb Pokémon, has two evolutions – the Unovan and Hisuian forms of the Pokémon Lilligant.
Unovan Lilligant, the Flowering Pokémon, is obviously based on an elegant lily – it’s in the name and everything. Seemingly, it was meant to evoke the idea of an extravagant princess at a ball.
The Spinning Pokémon, Hisuian Lilligant, and how it deviates from this design is pretty cool. It was introduced to the world as a boss fight in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, making it part of a very small list of Pokémon. Sadly, it’s not that strong in Pokémon Go, but it is cool to note nonetheless.

But what’s really cool is how things have changed over the past 1,000 years, comparing ancient Hisui to modern Unova – especially interesting adaptation of Lilligant if you’re a botanist or you just like the history of science.
There’s a genus (type) of plant called Allium – it contains onion, garlic and leeks, among other things – that historically was considered part of the Liliaceae (lily) family. If Hisui operated on the same logic applied previously, Allium was a Lilly. Petilil would not have thought of spring onions as not a lily, so Hisuian Lilligant’s more slender design wouldn’t have been out of the ordinary. As science and thinking evolved over the years, so did Petilil’s future, with modern Lilligant taking on the more bulbous design.
But that’s not to say that Hisuian Lilligant’s name is wrong. It thought it was a lily and it is certainly elegant. Its design is close to that of a ballerina – the peak of elegance. Plus, we also get to look at this Pokémon and remember one of the best bits of Jumanji: dance fighting. Hisuian Lilligant’s signature move, incidentally, is called Victory Dance.
If you want to learn more about the Petilil family, you can read their official Pokédex entries below:
- Petilil: ‘The leaves on its head grow right back even if they fall out. These bitter leaves refresh those who eat them. If the leaves on its head are pruned with regularity, this Pokémon can be grown into a fine plump shape.’
- Lilligant: ‘The fragrance of the garland on its head has a relaxing effect, but taking care of it is very difficult. No matter how much time and money is spent raising it, its flowers are the most beautiful when they bloom in the wild.’
- Hisuian Lilligant: ‘I suspect that its well-developed legs are the result of a life spent on mountains covered in deep snow. The scent it exudes from its flower crown heartens those in proximity.’
Good luck defeating Hisuian Lilligant in Pokémon Go!
