PlayStation Plus users praise ‘best’ new free game lineup in service’s history

PlayStation Plus users praise 'best' free game drop in service's history

Is PS Plus finally catching up with Xbox Game Pass?

It took a long time, but PlayStation Plus is finally back, and users are ecstatic with its latest lineup.

I know it, you know it, we all know it; the last few months of PlayStation Plus have been bloody awful.

Every now and again they sneak a decent game in there, but PlayStation users have been mostly paying for access to some real slop in 2025.

Well the drought is finally over, because PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers are being treated to Cyberpunk 2077, Bluey: The Videogame, Risk of Rain 2, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, New World: Aeternum, Abiotic Factor, Tropico 6 and Planet Zoo this month (as well as Twisted Metal 3 and Twisted Metal 4 on PlayStation Plus Premium).

Over in a thread on the r/PlayStationPlus subreddit reacting to the news, fans are mostly just relieved that Sony has been listening to their complaints.

“This is easily the best Extra lineup in the history of Plus”, commented user iminiki.

“Kudos to Sony.”

“This is insane. A game that is still effectively treated like a “current” game (at least in the PC space), that I’ve been eyeing for quite some time, and it’s available… NOW,” replied user RChickenMan.

“Not to gloat, but I’m on summer vacation. I have no responsibilities until September (hooray for the child-free life!). The timing is impeccable!”

I’ve not hidden the fact that I’ve been pretty sour on PlayStation Plus over the last few months, but even I gotta admit that this is a return to form for them.

It has felt like the quality of the service has been going downhill recently, which is kind of laughable considering they just increased the price of all PS Plus subscriptions (again).

Hopefully, the strong lineup this month means that Sony is finally reaching into their coffers and plans to keep this streak of bangers going. We’ll have to wait until next month’s PS Plus reveal to know for sure.
