According to a new report, Google’s Pixel Watch 4 will get a bigger battery and even faster charging, despite offering a similar overall package.
To date, we’ve not heard a ton about the Pixel Watch 4 series. Renders surfaced back in April with the same design as the existing Pixel Watch 3, though a different charging setup than the existing device as there were no visible pin connections, plus there were two additional cutouts on the chassis. More recently, another leak detailed case colors and band colors.
Now, we’re getting some more information on what’s changing with the watch.
Android Authority cites a “source inside Google” with some details about the Pixel Watch 4 series. As implied by the fact that there is newer Snapdragon chip available (yet), the report says that, yes, the same Snapdragon W5 chip is being used for the third time in a row. But, far more interestingly, Google is making some changes in the battery department.
Both the 41mm and 45mm sizes of Pixel Watch 4 will apparently get a non-neglible battery boost. The 41mm size will jump from Watch 3’s 307 mAh up to 327 mAh, a boost of roughly 7%. Meanwhile, the 45mm sizes jumps from 420 mAh on last year’s model to 459 mAh, a jump of roughly 9%. This is great news on both models, but especially the smaller model which has had almost the same size battery since 2022’s first generation release. That first generation weighed in at 294 mAh, just 13 mAh less than today’s Pixel Watch 3. So, truly, it’s nice to see a real upgrade in the pipeline.
The report also mentions that charging speeds are faster, but without any exact figures.
Pixel Watch 4 is expected to launch alongside the Pixel 10 series next month, but we’re still eager to see how Google is differentiating this year.
