According to recent reports, Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 4 is apparently set to include improvements to blood oxygen tracking, offer some form of satellite communications in emergencies, and support Android 16’s notification cooldown feature.
Google’s Pixel Watch 4 seems to be a relatively minor upgrade overall, but not without a handful of improvements. For instance, recent leaks suggest bigger batteries, new colors, and vague hardware changes that allow for repairs.
In further reports, Android Headlines suggests a few more additions. This includes an expansion to blood oxygen (SpO2) tracking on the Pixel Watch 4 which would allow for the feature to run “continuously.” As it stands today, this feature only works overnight, but this sounds as though it would run all day. This would enable a new feature that alerts the wearer when oxygen levels are too low.
The same report also briefly mentions “Emergency Satellite Communications” of some kind, but no further details are shared, as has been the pattern lately with Pixel leaks.
Another added feature mentioned is notification cooldown, a feature in Android 16 that limits notification spam by turning off audible alerts and vibrations “when you get too many notifications at once.” It’s claimed the feature will work similarly on Pixel Watch 4, but this is presumably not exclusive to Watch 4, as it might just be a part of Wear OS 6.
Google has confirmed an August 20 launch event for its next Pixel devices.
