Pixar’s ‘Elio’ Gets Streaming Date At Disney+

Disney and Pixar‘s Elio will begin streaming September 17 on Disney+.

The animated film follows Elio, an underdog kid with an active imagination who finds himself inadvertently beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s ambassador to the rest of the universe, and completely unprepared for that kind of pressure, Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, survive a series of formidable trials, and somehow discover who he is truly meant to be.

The film was helmed by Adrian Molina (Coco), along with Madeline Sharafian and Domee Shi from a screenplay by Julia Cho, Mark Hammer and Mike Jones.

The film opened in third place at $21 million, a historical low for Pixar. It finished with $72 million at the domestic box office and $153 million worldwide. While disappointing at the box office, the film is certified fresh with an 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
