Over the past few days, all of Nintendo and Game Freak’s secrets have spilled out over social media, and if I had a nickel for every single time that has happened recently, I’d be a very rich man indeed. It’s been a little more revealing this time, as key details about Pokemon’s release lineup have been revealed, as well as the title of Gen 10, and the existence of a rather interesting “multi-region” MMO project.
In a new batch of leaks, further details about Gen 10 have been revealed, and if these leaks are true, they seem to suggest that our favorite little electric mouse is set to undergo a little bit of a redesign for the next mainline Pokemon titles. First shared by Centro Leaks, a new model of Pikachu is going around on Twitter right now, standing next to his current model that can be seen in all the modern games.
Pikachu Is Seemingly Being Redesigned For The Next Pokemon Game
You can see the new model in the tweet above, and you’ll immediately notice that this new Pikachu is a lot less chunky than his current model. His head is a lot more round, while his body is a lot less cylindrical, and I’m starting to get concenred that somebody over at Game Freak has Pikachu on some kind of extreme weight loss treatment and isn’t feeding him correctly.
Pikachu didn’t really need a redesign, but I can’t say I hate his new look though. It has been pointed out by people such as Twitter user Swag Kirb that this new model looks very similar to the version of Pikachu that Nintendo likes to use to advertise Pokemon events and various bits of merch, so it’s possible that Game Freak is making the two align a little better for marketing purposes.
It does also raise the question of whether any other popular Pokemon will be getting new models for Gen 10, or if it’s literally just Pikachu that has been put on the Ozempic. Given that Gen 10 will be launching at some point in 2026, according to this latest set of leaks, we probably won’t have too long to wait before Game Freak finally make an official announcement and actually shows us the next big mainline game.
