Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider’s radio hit on 710 AM Seattle Sports featured a surprise guest that not even Schneider knew was dropping by.
During an interview with Seahawks Radio Network play-by-play voice Steve Raible before Thursday’s preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders, Schneider was asked what it was like to see former coach Pete Carroll come out the opposing tunnel at Lumen Field.

As Schneider was giving his answer, Carroll himself walked by and crashed the conversation.
“It wasn’t a big thing at all,” Carroll said of coming out of the opposing tunnel. “I’m just glad to see he’s still doing his radio show.”
“I don’t want to screw up your show. I just wanted to screw up your show,” Carroll added jokingly.
Carroll was making his return to the Pacific Northwest on Thursday as the head coach of the Raiders.
He amassed a 137-89-1 record in 14 seasons as the head coach of the Seahawks, spending his full time in Seattle with Schneider as the GM. Carroll led the Seahawks to 10 playoff appearances, including the franchise’s lone Super Bowl title in 2014.
Carroll was the longest-tenured coach in Seahawks history and is the franchise’s all-time leader in regular season wins, winning percentage (.606) and playoff wins (10).
The Seahawks moved Carroll from head coach to an advisory role in January 2024 before hiring Mike Macdonald as his replacement on the sidelines. After spending one season away from coaching, the 73-year-old Carroll accepted the Raiders’ head coach position this past January.
Thursday’s game also marked a return to the Emerald City for former Seahawks starting quarterback Geno Smith, who Carroll and the Raiders acquired for a third-round pick during the offseason.
