Capcom is adamant that Leon Kennedy won’t appear in Resident Evil Requiem, but nobody really believes them. Reputable leakers like Dusk Golem have reiterated time and time again that he will be a major player alongside Grace Ashcroft and that we’ve already seen footage from his POV.
It’s clear that Leon is meant to be a big surprise, but there’s already plenty of evidence to support Dusk Golem’s claims. In some of the gameplay footage, we see a larger, Tetris-style inventory system, akin to Leon’s iconic briefcase; the movie-inspired outfit that Capcom recently showed off is only usable by Grace, hinting that there’s at least one other playable character; and PlayStation Portugal outright revealed that an additional outfit will be available for Leon – it doesn’t get much more concrete than that.
But the most bizarre leak yet comes from the Peru-based gaming store, Fhalcon. Right on the home page, spinning around the carousel, is a Requiem pre-order package that comes with Leon S. Kennedy’s boxers.
Leon Kennedy’s Design Appears To Be An AI Placeholder
Granted, Fhalcon did say that this design is a placeholder, and that the final version will be “released in the coming months”, so this isn’t our first look at Leon Kennedy in Requiem. Indeed, the version shown above looks almost exactly like the fake mockup that went viral, which Dusk Golem quickly shot down.
Dusk Golem claimed that he will be “more rugged” and wear a “black jacket”.
Nonetheless, the fact that the storefront is bundling Leon Kennedy underwear with Requiem pre-orders is yet more proof that he’s in the game. What’s more, if Fhalcon is to be believed, and the final design is set to be unveiled in the coming months, maybe fans were right: Capcom could be preparing to unveil Leon Kennedy at The Game Awards, finally pulling back the curtain on the worst-kept secret in gaming.
Whatever happens, I never thought I’d see a character in a hugely popular series like Resident Evil leak on a pair of underwear, but here we are.
