As Panthers head coach Dave Canales said Monday, Chandler Zavala will replace Hunt, and Cade Mays will return to the middle, as he did last year when Corbett went to IR.
Of course, it’s hard to replace the play and the leadership that those veterans provide.
“I think about Cade and the opportunity for Chandler coming in there, but between Austin and between Rob, these are two guys that I lean on also just for messaging and for the toughness and the fight and the discipline to just continue to go back to work. So, we’ll certainly miss those guys that way.”
Mays started eight of the final nine games last year after Corbett was lost to a torn biceps tendon, missing one game late with an illness.
New addition Nick Samac is backing up Mays on the chart now. The former Ravens practice squader was signed on Tuesday, along with linebacker Maema Njongmeta.
