Overwatch 2 locks in Persona 5 collab as Joker appears in new trailer

It’s finally happening. The Phantom Thieves are on their way to the world of Overwatch 2 as a Persona 5 collaboration has been revealed. Here’s what we know based on the initial tease.

With each new Season in Overwatch 2, fans can look forward to a raft of fresh cosmetics. Some are simply themed around the fiction of the universe, while others are from entirely different IP.

Be it Cowboy Bebop, One Punch Man, or even Transformers, we’ve seen all sorts of partnerships over the years as iconic characters make their way into Overwatch in some shape or form. Typically, they’re represented through existing OW2 heroes.

Next up in Season 18, another mega-popular video game series is set to partner up in a big way. Atlus and Blizzard have shaken hands to allow for a Persona 5 collab in the world of Overwatch 2. Here’s what we know.

Persona 5 x Overwatch 2 collab revealed

We got official confirmation of the big collab at the very end of OW2’s Season 18 Launch Trailer. After the splash screen that usually concludes a trailer, Blizzard dropped a few seconds of pure hype.

The iconic red and black visuals of The Phantom Thieves took over the screen in a not-so-subtle teaser. In a flash, Joker himself is front and center, confirming a Persona 5 collab on the way.

Joker from Persona 5 appears in Overwatch 2 Season 18 trailer.

Joker appeared briefly at the tail end of Overwatch 2’s Season 18 trailer.

To not mince words, this is indeed the real Joker. It’s unmistakably his silhouette, rather than that of an existing OW2 hero, for instance.

Traditionally, collabs bring cosmetic packs of various sizes, often including a handful of skins for heroes on the roster along with a few other goodies. So don’t get your expectations too high thinking this tease might mean Joker is actually joining the hero-shooter roster, that doesn’t seem likely.

Instead, we’re sure to be seeing a range of Persona 5-themed skins added to the mix, and it could be as soon as the mid-season patch given devs are already outing its existence.

Notably, this isn’t the first time the two franchises have been linked. In fact, ex-OW2 devs have even addressed the possibility of a Persona crossover in the past.

Back in 2023, a fan asked on Twitter (now known as X) for collabs with their favorite games, Nier Automata and Persona.

Former Executive Producer Jared Neuss was first to respond, labelling himself “a big ol’ Persona nerd” and assuring he would “welcome this collab.”

Although Neuss left the Overwatch team earlier in 2025, there’s no doubt talks with Atlus have been ongoing for quite some time. These collaborations don’t happen overnight, it could take years of back and forth to get it all over the line. Thus, there’s every chance Neuss was pushing for what we now see today while he was on the team.

It’s unclear who else from Persona 5 might be joining the fight in OW2, but we have some safe bets.

As for which heroes may be receiving the skins, that’s anyone’s guess for now. But we can make some predictions based on the Persona 5 cast.

At the very least, we’d expect to see Joker, Ryuji, Ann, and Morgana. As for additional companions, anything is possible, but best girl Futaba should be at the top of the list.

Of course, there’s always a possibility others like Igor, Caroline, and Justine make appearances as well. Here’s hoping it opens the door for even more Persona collabs down the line because I need to see a Winston x Teddie skin.
