NORMAN — Oklahoma’s Southeastern Conference football opponents for the 2026 through 2029 seasons were announced by the conference office Tuesday evening. As part of the announcement, the Sooners will play Missouri, Ole Miss and Texas in each of the four years.
The SEC announced in August it would play a nine-game conference schedule starting with the 2026 season. In the new format, each SEC school will play every other SEC school at least once every two years, and every opponent home and away over four years. In addition to the conference opponents, SEC teams are required to schedule at least one additional high quality non-conference opponent from the ACC, Big Ten or Big 12 conferences or Notre Dame each season. OU will face the same rotating opponents in 2026/2028 and in 2027/2029, with home and away designations flipped for the second year of the rotation.
The Sooners will play four home games and four road contests, as well as the annual Red River Rivalry game against Texas at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. The Sooners and Longhorns will continue to alternate home/away designations with OU serving as the home team in even years and Texas as the home team in odd years.
Oklahoma’s conference schedule in 2026 includes home games against Ole Miss, Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas A&M and road outings at Missouri, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi State. In 2027, the Sooners will play Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee at home and Ole Miss, Auburn, LSU and Vanderbilt on the road.
In 2028, OU will face Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi State at home and Missouri, Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas A&M on the road. The 2029 schedule includes home games vs. Missouri, Auburn, LSU and Vanderbilt and road contests against Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee.
The SEC will continue to compete in a single-standings, non-divisional structure. SEC Athletics Directors established several priorities upon which to build schedules: maintain and renew traditional rivalries, increase frequency of matchups with opponents, ensure a similar strength of schedule from top to bottom and maximize opportunity for SEC schools to qualify for the CFP.
Annual opponents were determined based on traditional rivalries (including neutral-site games, such as OU-Texas), competitive fairness, geography and alignment with non-conference home and away matchups. The remaining six conference games come from a rotating pool of the other conference teams. Annual opponents will be evaluated after each four-year cycle to maintain continued competitive balance.
