Oscar Isaac is reconsidering his plans to return to the Star Wars universe, but he has one condition for working with Disney again.
In a new interview, the Frankenstein actor revealed that he would be open to reprising his role as X-wing fighter pilot Poe Dameron, a character he originated in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Talking to GQ, Isaac was asked if he would return to the Star Wars universe after saying he would only do so if he “needed another house.”
“Yeah. That was a real likable quote. Jesus Christ,” he said. “Y’know, people ask you things, you say stuff, you don’t really think about it that much. I said a slightly dickish thing.”
After years of saying he wouldn’t, Isaac now says that he’s “open to it,” adding, “Although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney.”
“But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great,” he said.
The publication noted that they interviewed Isaac after ABC and Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel from his late-night show following comments the host made about Charlie Kirk following his death. Kimmel returned to host four days after the interview took place.
After his first appearance in The Force Awakens, Isaac returned to the Star Wars universe in The Last Jedi in 2017. In 2019, Isaac reprised his role in The Rise of Skywalker and also voiced his character in the Star Wars Resistance animated series.
The actor is also part of Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, having starred in the Disney+ series Moon Knight, where he also served as an executive producer.
