Oregon Ducks took Mike Gundy’s remarks personal, tried to ‘break the scoreboard’ against Oklahoma State

EUGENE — Mike Gundy’s remarks about Oregon “spending a lot of money” on its football program, including alleging UO spent $40 million on its roster last season, were “gasoline on the fire” for Dan Lanning and the No. 6 Ducks.

Lanning, who responded to Gundy’s remarks by saying, “we spend to win; some people save to have an excuse for why they don’t,” motivated his team even further heading into its Power Four nonconference matchup.
