WWE is running a 16-man “The Last Time Is Now” tournament to determine who John Cena will fight in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December.
Only four names have been officially announced for the tourney so far, with Damian Priest vs. Rusev and Sheamus vs. Shinsuke Nakamura revealed as two of the opening round matches.
Even though Rusev is in the field to be John’s opponent at SNME, he doesn’t think it will actually be the final match of Cena’s career. The Bulgarian Brute expressed his doubt in an interview with SHAK Wrestling.
“I don’t believe it. I’m not holding my breath. I love John [Cena], and this may be his last match of this century or whatnot, but at some point, I want to see him back, whenever that is.”
Rusev definitely shouldn’t hold his breath if he thinks there’s a chance Cena may wrestle again next century.
Do you think this will really be the final match of Cena’s pro wrestling career when all is said and done? Will the temptation of a massive amount of Saudi money at WrestleMania 43 in 2027 be too much to resist? Does it count if Cena returns for a seven second squash match cameo at WrestleMania in ten years?
