One UI 8.5 is still a few months out, expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026. Even so, we already have a clear picture of some of the improvements coming to Galaxy devices. From more flexible battery indicator controls and an updated Gallery app to enhanced Galaxy AI features, the update packs several refinements. Now, we can give you an early look at the new blurred effect for lock screen notifications and the refreshed lock screen clock styles.
One UI 8.5 improves your Galaxy lock screen experience
Samsung continues to refine the Galaxy experience with One UI 8.5, introducing subtle but useful changes to the lock screen. One of the key updates is blurred backgrounds for lock screen notifications, which improves readability while maintaining a clean, modern look. With this change, notifications no longer compete with the wallpaper, giving users a more polished and visually appealing interface.
In addition, One UI 8.5 brings new lock screen clock styles, allowing users to further personalize their devices. These refreshed designs offer a mix of aesthetic and functional improvements, giving Galaxy users more ways to make their lock screen reflect their style. Of course, Good Lock’s LockStar lets you further personalize your lock screen. One UI 8.5 may bring some upgrades to LockStar as well.
These enhancements highlight Samsung’s ongoing focus on small refinements that improve everyday usability, while keeping the interface visually engaging. One UI 8.5 will debut in early 2026, starting with the Galaxy S26 series and gradually rolling out to other Galaxy devices.
