One dead after two planes collide mid-air in northern Colorado

FORT MORGAN, Colo. (KKTV) – One person is dead after a plane crash in northern Colorado.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to the Fort Morgan Municipal Airport at 10:44 Sunday morning.

When they got there, they said they learned a small Cessna was on a final approach to the airport when it was hit by a small plane mid-air. They said both planes crashed and caught fire. The planes had two passengers each, according to deputies.

Deputies said one person died on scene, another was taken to the hospital. They said both passengers of the Cessna had minor injuries and were both treated on scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate what happened.
