NEW YORK (WABC) — Every first Sunday in November, more than 50,000 people from around the world, including elite runners, celebrities, and amateurs alike, lace up for the TCS New York City Marathon.
Sunday marks the 54th running of the race.
Thousands of spectators will also come out along the 26.2-mile course through the five boroughs to cheer them to the finish line.
The race starts at 8:00 a.m. ET with the professional men’s wheelchair division, followed by the women’s wheelchair division at 8:02 a.m. ET.
Elite runners begin later, with professional women starting at 8:35 a.m., followed by professional men at 9:05 a.m., and the general race waves having staggered starts, starting around 9:10 a.m.
The wheelchair division will begin crossing the finish line around 9:30 a.m., followed by the professional women at approximately 11:00 a.m., and the professional men at 11:15 a.m.
The final runners will cross the finish line after 8:00 p.m.
