The state Republican committee will disband its Young Republicans chapter after a vile group chat between its members revealed they joked about rape and praised Hitler, sources told The Post.
The decision comes after thousands of the gross, antisemitic and racist messages were disclosed in a POLITICO story this week that sent shockwaves through political circles, especially in New York.
“It’’s time to start fresh,” a source familiar with the party’s plans said.

The New York Republican State Committee’s executive board will meet Friday morning and is expected to formally vote to disband the group, two sources told The Post Thursday.
Newsday was first to report the breakoff.
Peter Giunta and Bobby Walker, the former and current presidents of New York’s Young Republicans, were axed as the group’s chats that included cheering the rape of their political enemies and joking about sending people to gas chambers.

The group chat scandal was the last straw, the party source said — after boiling tensions between party leadership and the Young Republicans.
POLITICO reported last month that the chapter was thousands of dollars in debt after throwing a lavish holiday party in 2023 and hadn’t been keeping up with required financial disclosures.
The source said the committee hasn’t discussed future steps towards bringing back the Young Republicans down the road, but said “it’s time to start again.”
