I don’t care about sales data, completely irrelevant to the conversation.
You are arguing that McDonalds has the best cheeseburger, essentially.
You can feel satisfied with the switch library, that’s fine. Others are not. These are indeed dark Nintendo times, for me. My (and many people’s) favorite Switch 1st party releases were games I had already enjoyed on Wii U a decade or more ago, and now at least one of those is a major re release on switch 2. Every 1st party sequel that I tried on switch that I can think of was a let down. Prime 4 was a MAJOR switch game for me, and after years of disappointment (and eventual apathy,) it’s behind a new 450 dollar paywall, along with the port of Fzero GX which itself is like an insult because it’s a bloody f*cking rental.
I’m the meantime, we got a (again IMO) pointless remaster of prime 1, an absolutely anti-fun new 2.5d Metroid that left me completely cold, and an online-only Fzero “experience” that failed to deliver the fun or feel of it’s source Fzero game. (And believe me, I lined up for all of these. I bought Dread at launch, and played hours of 99 wondering if it was “just me,” an illusion that one minute of playing OG Fzero on my SNES dispelled handily.)
All of this is just my opinion, of course. If you love what they are doing, then I’m simply jealous that I can’t share that with you. ✌️ Because I want more than anything for Nintendo to stop disappointing me.
(I LOVED my NES, SNES, N64, CUBE, Wii and Wii U, for the record. Along with my Gameboy, GB pocket, GB color, GBA, and SP. Nintendo will always have a special place in my heart, just for that, and I’m not going anywhere as a fan. ❤️)
