Nicole Kidman‘s 2001 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman is going viral again in the wake of her split from Keith Urban.
Kidman, who was going through her divorce from first husband Tom Cruise in the summer of 2001, appeared on The Late Show on Aug. 2 of that year to promote her movie The Others.
Letterman started the interview by cheerfully asking Kidman, “I heard you’re getting divorced, how’s that going?” After Letterman suggested that Kidman would not have done the talk show if “things were not alright,” she said, “I’d probably still be here.”
When Letterman asked if people had been asking her about her divorce, Kidman admitted, “Um, yeah I get a lot of questions.” Moments later, the actress said, “Well, I can wear heels now,” with a smirk, which sparked applause from the audience and laughter from Letterman. “Let’s move on,” she continued. “Now we move on.”
Kidman and Letterman traded quips back and forth throughout the rest of the interview. Kidman added, “Things are fine. It’s fine,” before asking Letterman, “How was your divorce?” (Letterman was married to his college sweetheart Michelle Cook in the 1970s; he has been married to Regina Lasko since 2009.)

The actress filed for divorce on Sept. 30 in Nashville, where the couple has lived since 2007, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. Kidman listed their date of separation as the date of filing and cited irreconcilable differences as reason for the split. Kidman and Urban wed in June 2006 and share two children: daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. (Kidman is also mom to daughter Bella, 32, and son Connor, 30, from her first marriage to Cruise.)
On Sept. 29, a source told PEOPLE that Kidman and Urban’s “lives were moving in different directions” before they officially went their separate ways, “and once he quietly set up his own place, it felt like the writing was on the wall.”
“It really hasn’t been a secret in their circles that Keith and Nicole have been living separately for a while now,” the insider added. “People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable.”
