Nicole Kidman Joins Osgood Perkins Horror-Thriller ‘The Young People’

Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (The Others) has joined Osgood Perkins’ The Young Peoplewe can reveal, joining previously announced stars Lola Tung and Nico Parker.

The ensemble also includes Brendan Hines, Cush Jumbo, Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville, Lexi Minetree, Lily Collias, and Tatiana Maslany.

Production is underway in Vancouver. While plot details are largely under wraps, it has been reported online that the film centers on a couple of school friends, one of whom starts to develop red flag behavior.

Neon will release theatrically in the U.S., and is representing international sales rights at this week’s American Film Market. The company is co-financing with Lyrical Media. Producers include Perkins and his partner Chris Ferguson for Phobos and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones for Range.

The Young People is the first project under the first-look deal between Neon, Perkins, and his production banner Phobos and marks the pair’s latest collaboration following the success of Longlegs which was the highest grossing independent film of the year at $75M domestically, and The Monkey which marked Neon’s second-biggest opening weekend at the box office. The two are also partnering on Perkins’ next film, Keeper, which Neon is releasing on November 14. 

Five-time Oscar nominee Kidman, who won the 2024 Venice Film Festival Best Actress prize for Babygirl, is in post on Amazon crime series Scarpetta. Her genre work most notably includes box office hit The Others.

Kidman is represented by CAA, Media Talent and Jackoway Austen.
