The NFL is reviewing new allegations of domestic violence made against Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill by his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro Hill.
Vaccaro, 29, initially filed for divorce from Hill, 31, on April 8, one day after police responded to a domestic disturbance call at the couple’s residence in Sunny Isles Beach, Fla. In a new court filing this month, which was obtained by TMZ, Vaccaro alleged that Hill became violent with her on eight occasions.
Vaccaro said the abuse began in early January 2024, two months after they were married. She alleged that Hill threw her to the floor multiple times, spat on her, and got physical with her while she was pregnant with their now 10-month-old child.
The conduct was “outrageous, beyond all bounds of decency, and is regarded as atrocious and utterly intolerable in a civilized community,” Vaccaro wrote in the documents, according to TMZ.
League spokesperson Brian McCarthy said in an email statement: “It is standard policy for the league to review a matter such as this.”
Vaccaro’s attorney, Evan Marks, said the amended petition is verified, “meaning that [Vaccaro] has sworn that the allegations contained therein are true and correct.”
“Evidence will be presented to a jury who will then decide whether Ms. Vaccaro is entitled to be compensated for the damages that she sustained due to the conduct of Mr. Hill as alleged,” Marks said in an email to The Athletic.
One of Hill’s attorneys, Michael Gottlieb, denied the allegations and called it a “money grab.”
“Prior to the allegations, there was an adverse order to her lawyer and her. Now they conjured up these allegations to create a count for damages. We stand by the release he previously put out and echo that he is innocent and will fight these baseless allegations in court,” Gottlieb said in an email.
The Dolphins did not respond to a request for comment at the time of publication.
This is not the first time Hill has faced legal trouble. He pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges in 2015 stemming from a 2014 incident while he attended Oklahoma State University. In 2019, police in Kansas investigated Hill for suspected child abuse but did not file charges. In 2023, he reached a settlement with a marina employee after allegations that he hit the employee during a dispute. In February 2024, Sophie Hall sued Hill after she alleged the Dolphins wide receiver broke her leg during a football lesson at his home last June.
