NFL officiating has come under question in a major way on Sunday.
Week 8 of the 2025 NFL regular season is fully underway. The league’s action started on Thursday night, with the Chargers taking it to the Vikings. In the 1 p.m E.T window on Sunday, the Eagles bested the Giants, the Texans upset the 49ers, the Bills smacked the Panthers, the Dolphins topped the Falcons and the Ravens took down the Bears, among other contests.

NFL officiating, which has come under question for several years in a row now, has been under fire for its performance on Sunday.

NFL officiating crews for the following two games have come under question in a major way on Sunday afternoon:
NFL fans have accused the refs in the Eagles vs. Giants game of “rigging” the contest, following a questionable no-fumble call on a “Tush Push” play.
There was a questionable offensive pass interference penalty later in the contest, too. Should this have been called?

“This is why people think the NFL is rigged I have NEVER seen a game more gifted to a team Refs have made multiple game changing calls to benefit the Eagles In what world is this OFFENSIVE pass interference & not a TD,” one fan added.
Calls in the Bears’ loss to the Ravens have fans thinking that game was “rigged,” too.
It was ugly in Chicago.
“FL is rigged. Horrible @NFLOfficiating again against the bears,” one fan wrote.

“The amount of flags this crew of refs throws or doesn’t throw is crazy… The Bears aren’t playing great but these refs must owe a bookie in new York or something, cause that was the most blatant offensive interference I’ve ever seen not get called,” one fan added.
NFL has an officiating problem
While NFL referees likely aren’t “rigging” any games – though, after this week’s NBA gambling scandal, you can never know in 2025 – the league clearly has a trust problem when it comes to the referees.

“Refs are ruining the NFL. A flag on every big play. No flow, no enjoyment. Ridiculous ticky-tack offensive pass interference flag on Giants takes a TD off the board,” sports media insider Michael McCarthy wrote.
He added: “There’s the refs in Philly chucking on-field over their own incompetence + bias. There’s nothing amusing here fellas. You screwed the Giants with 2 of the worst calls I’ve ever seen. So keep laughing funny boys. Every week, you give critics more ammo that sports is rigged.”
