How quickly we forget.
At this time last year, the Eagles and Cowboys shared the same over/under win total (10.5), then finished seven wins apart. The Bucs and Saints also received the same preseason number (7.5), then finished five wins apart.
The Jets (9.5) and Bills (10.5) were expected to battle for AFC East supremacy. The Browns (8.5) were projected to fight for a playoff spot, then finished with the worst record (3-14) in the NFL. The Vikings (7.5) nearly captured the No. 1 seed with 14 wins. The 49ers (11.5) fell from Super Bowl favorite to last place. The Broncos (5.5) rode their rookie quarterback to double-digit wins.
It is how the NFL is designed to be, full of parity and unpredictability.
